FAQs
Handcrafted Heritage: Are these products truly handmade by artisans in India?
Yes, absolutely. We partner directly with artisan communities in different regions of India. Our textiles, like the Kantha quilts and flatweave rugs, are created using traditional, manual techniques such as hand-quilting and ancestral weaving. This ensures every piece you purchase is unique and supports the continuity of these crafts.
Natural Fibers Promise: What types of materials are used in your textiles and decor?
We prioritize natural and sustainable materials. Our bedspreads and quilts are typically made from soft, natural cotton. Our dhurrie rugs are woven from natural fibers like cotton or wool, and our decor items may utilize natural grasses and other sustainable fibers.
Preserving the Craft: How should I care for my hand-stitched quilt or Kantha bedspread?
For all hand-stitched or quilted items, we recommend gentle, cold-water washing on a delicate cycle. For best results and to preserve the stitching and color vibrancy, dry cleaning is recommended for the first few washes. Avoid high heat when drying to prevent shrinkage
Decoding Our Textiles: What is the difference between a Quilt, a Kantha, and a Dhurrie?
Quilt/Bedspread: Has two fabric layers and batting in the middle, secured by quilting stitches.
Kantha: Layers of fabric secured only by the signature, visible running stitch, giving it a lighter, softer drape.
Dhurrie: A flatweave rug (no pile), making it lightweight, often reversible, and durable for floors.
Sizing and Availability: Why do sizes sometimes vary, and how often are items restocked?
Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, slight variations in size and pattern detail are common and expected. Because each piece takes time to create, rugs and quilts are often restocked in smaller batches. If an item is sold out, we recommend joining the waitlist for the next artisan batch!
